David C. Driskell Center Opening Celebration

More than 200 friends and benefactors gathered to celebrate the opening of the David C. Driskell Center for the Study of the Visual Arts and Culture of African Americans and the African Diaspora. The new 10,000 square-foot center is home to an archive of thousands of Driskell's artistic works along with historical documents. The facility includes administrative offices, exhibition, storage and study spaces and is open for scholarly research. Established in 2001, the Driskell Center works to assure that the contributions of African American artists are recognized, and to help replenish and expand the field.
